Illegal encampments have been reoccurring on a weekly basis in excess of a year on the same parcels of land. After the travellers are evicted they return again within weeks. This has been occuring in Marston Moretaine, Ridgmont and Dunstable. As a result these illegal encampments are damaging the green space and littering the area with flying tipping. The cost to evict travellers and clean up the waste left behind is having a huge cost to tax payers and resource at Beds Police and Central Beds. As a result of this huge increase in workload the officers are too over stretched to address the issue and ensure prompt eviction. A more long term solution is required to address the issue.
