Campaign for a new build leisure centre for Dunstable
We the undersigned petition the council to Build a brand new purpose built leisure centre for Dunstable. The current proposal to refurbish the existing leisure centre will mean a closure for at least 18 months leaving the community with absolutely no leisure facilities within the town. The effect on the community and service users of the existing leisure centre will be catastrophic. Other local areas have had new centres built i.e. Flitwick, so why is Dunstable being forced to accept a refurbishment of a building which is over 40 yrs old not fit for purpose. This is a once in a life time opportunity for the people of Dunstable to get the brand new purpose built centre they deserve.
Closure of the leisure centre for an 18 month period will ensure
a loss of revenue to the town.
The construction of a purpose built centre will ensure that the
community and current service users have an input into the design,
presently service users are not being heard, the authority is
adamant to give the design they want and not what the community
desperately needs.
