Membership of the Appointments Panel and the Employee Partnership Committee pdf icon PDF 17 KB

The Committee is requested to appoint Members to the following bodies:

 

(a)               Appointments Panel – composed of 5 Members (4 Conservative and 1 Liberal Democrat) plus 3 substitutes (2 Conservative and 1 Liberal Democrat).  In addition all Executive Members are on the Panel to enable the relevant Portfolio Holder to attend an Appointments Sub-Committee.  The Panel forms the body from which Members are drawn to form individual Appointments Sub-Committees.

 

An Appointments Sub-Committee will be composed of 3 – 5 Members (2-4 Conservative and 1 Liberal Democrat, including at least 1 Executive Member) plus 3 substitutes (2 Conservative and 1 Liberal Democrat).   All Members on the Sub-Committee will be drawn from the Appointments Panel and appointed by the Monitoring Officer.

 

(b)               Employee Partnership Committee – composed of 7 Members (6 Conservative and 1 Liberal Democrat, including at least 1 Executive Member) plus 4 substitutes (3 Conservative and 1 Liberal Democrat).

 

Note: The membership of the above Committee and Sub-Committee comply with the political balance rules referred to in the report to Annual Council entitled ‘Appointment of Members, Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen to Committees and Other Council Bodies 2011/12’ (see in particular Appendix A, section A3).

 

Minutes:

 

The Committee considered a schedule tabled by the Monitoring Officer outlining the nominations from the Group Leaders in relation to the appointment of Members to the Appointments Panel and the Employee Partnership Committee.

 

RESOLVED

 

1.            that Members of the Appointments Panel and Employee Partnership Committee, be appointed as indicated on the schedule attached as Appendix A to these minutes; and

 

2.            to note that the Appointments Sub-Committee will be appointed by the Monitoring Officer and will be composed of 3-5 Members (2-4 Conservatives and 1 Liberal Democrat, including at least 1 Executive Member) plus 3 substitutes (2 Conservatives and 1 Liberal Democrat).
