The Chairman advised that further to the despatch of the agenda she had agreed to take an additional report as an urgent item of business, Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013.

To consider the adoption of the Sex Establishment Policy for Central Bedfordshire.

The Committee received and considered a report of the Director of Community Services which sought adoption of the Sex Establishment Policy for Central Bedfordshire.

The Committee were advised that following its meeting on 6 June 2013 to review the Council’s Sex Establishment Policy, extensive consultation had been undertaken.  The Policy had been drawn up to reflect the responses to the public consultation regarding the location of Sex Establishments in central Bedfordshire.  A copy of the Policy was attached at Appendix B to the report.

The Committee considered the Policy in detail and made an amendment to Paragraph 4 relating to Location of Licensed Premises.

RESOLVED

That the Statement of Policy for Sex Establishments as now amended be adopted.

The Committee received and considered a report of the Director of Community Services outlining the requirements of a local authority to issue licences under the guidance of the Scrap metal Dealers Act 2013.

The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 came into force on 1 October 2013 and requires that all scrap metal dealers and motor salvage operators are licensed in line with the Act by the Local Authority.

RESOLVED

That the requirements of a local authority to issue licences under the guidance of the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 be approved.
