The Vice-Chairman in the Chair welcomed everyone to the meeting.

Exclusion of the Press and Public

To consider whether to pass a resolution under section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972 to exclude the Press and Public from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that the consideration of the item is likely to involve the disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 7 and 12 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act.

that in accordance with Section 100A (4) of the Local Government Act 1972 the public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part I of Schedule 12A of the Act.

Application for a Private Hire Operator Licence

To consider a report of the Director of Community Services seeking a decision whether or not to grant a Private Hire Operator Licence to Mr H in view of the location of the proposed operator premises.

Minutes:

 

The Committee received and considered a report of the Community Services Director seeking a decision whether or not to grant a private hire operator licence to Mr H in view of the location of the proposed operator premises.

 

The applicant and his representative attended the meeting and made representations in support of the application.

 

The Licensing Officer from Luton Borough Council raised an issue regarding a possible legal challenge.  The debate ensued and it was agreed that the meeting would be deferred to allow the Legal team the opportunity to determine the way forward.
