The Committee received and considered a report of the Director of Community Services seeking approval of the Central Bedfordshire Council Gambling Policy 2016.

The Committee noted that Central Bedfordshire Council had previously adopted a review and adopted a new policy on 24 January 2013.  The Council is legally required to review the policy every three years.  The next renewal of the policy is 31 January 2016.  The policy set out the approach that Central Bedfordshire Council would take towards any applications for a gambling licence and the duration of the licence, subject to any revisions in the intervening time, was for a period of three years.

The Committee highlighted to Officers the need to review the Council’s position relating to licences for Casinos which had not been included in the Gambling Policy.

RECOMMENDED TO COUNCIL

1.     That the Gambling Policy be adopted by Council.

RESOLVED

2.     That the Gambling Policy, attached at Appendix A to the report, be approved.

3.     That the Assistant Director of Community Safety and Public Protection in consultation with the Executive Member for Community Services, be given delegated authority to undertake any necessary minor amendments to the Policy prior to publication.
