Downs Road area, Dunstable – Results of Traffic Options Consultation pdf icon PDF 4 MB

To report to the Executive Member for Sustainable Communities

Services on the results of a recent public consultation on possible traffic

management options and to seek the Executive Member’s views. In

addition, the report presents the petition received from the residents of

Downs Road in support of Option 5 of the consultation.

Decision:

That the results of the consultation exercise be noted, along with the contents of the petition and that approval to proceed with advertising Traffic Regulations Orders to implement Option 5 be granted.

Petition for Traffic Lights in Twin Bridges, Tempsford Road, Blunham, Bedfordshire pdf icon PDF 52 KB

The purpose of this report is to present a petition received from Blunham Parish Council and signed by 497 signatories.

Decision:

That the signalisation of the Twin Bridges, as part of the 2013/14 structures capital programme scheme for design and implementation, be approved.

Poynters Road area, Dunstable - Resolution of Objections to a
Proposed 7.5 tonnes Goods Vehicle Weight Restriction pdf icon PDF 4 MB

To report to the Executive Member for Sustainable Communities -Services the

receipt of objections to a proposed 7.5 tonnes Goods Vehicle Weight Restriction and to seek a way forward.

Decision:

That the following be agreed:-

1.            (i)        the refurbishment and improvement of Boscombe Road

     Traffic controlled junction to allow traffic to move more freely;

(ii)       Poynters Road be resurfaced;

(iii)             preferred HGV routes be signed on Boscombe Road and the

A505;

(iv)              air quality to be monitored for both Poynters Road and Boscombe Road;

(v)                to note that the proposals for the implementation of the Woodside Link are progressing.

2.            the proposed 7.5tonnes goods vehicle weight restriction will not be implemented and the decision will be deferred to allow the impact of the above to be considered.

Various Roads in Leighton-Linslade – Results of Parking Consultation pdf icon PDF 1 MB

To report to the Executive Member for Sustainable Communities Services on the results of a recent public consultation on commuter parking and to seek the Executive Member’s views.

Decision:

That the following proposals be taken forward to the statutory Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) process:-

(a)    Orchard Drive, Grange Close and Woodside Way – to advertise two options (i) Resident’s Parking Scheme and (ii) Single Yellow Lines (No Waiting Mon to Fri 8.30am – 12 noon on one side of the road and No Waiting Mon to Fri 1pm – 5pm on the opposite side).  Final decision to be made at Traffic Management Meeting following conclusion of consultation.

(b)    Wing Road and Mentmore Road – Residents Permit Parking Scheme.  Remove properties on the north-west side of Wing Road between Old Road and no. 120 from the existing Central Linslade permit parking zone and include them in the new Wing Road and Mentmore Road zone.  Introduce No Waiting at any time on various lengths of road.

(c)    St Mary’s Way area – Residents Permit Parking scheme.   Introduce No Waiting at any time at the junction of St Mary’s Way and Soulbury Road.

(d)    Faulkner’s Way – Residents Permit Parking scheme.  Introduce No Waiting at any time on short lengths of road near the junctions of Faulkner’s Way with Stoke Road and Bossington Lane.

(e)    Harcourt Close – Single Yellow Lines (No Waiting Mon to Fri 8.30am – 12 noon on one side of the road and No Waiting Mon to Fri 1pm – 5pm o the other side).

(f)      Southcott Village – Residents Permit Parking scheme from Chelsea Green to the end.  Introduce No Waiting at any time at the junction of Southcott Village and Chelsea Green.

(g)    Epsom Close – Extend Single Yellow Lines (No Waiting Mon to Fri 10am – 11am on one side of the road and No Waiting Mon to Fri 2pm – 3pm on the other side).

(h)    Chelsea Green, Ascot Drive and Village Court – No further action at present, but monitor the level of on-street parking following the introduction of parking controls in other roads.

 

6.

Improvements to Existing Residents Parking Zones

To report to the Executive Member for Sustainable Communities Services on the findings and recommendations of a study carried out in the existing Residents Parking Zones of Dunstable and Leighton - Linslade.

Decision:

That the recommendations, as detailed in appendices A to D, of the report be approved subject to funding being identified.
