Ivel Road, Shefford - Consider objections to proposed raised tables pdf icon PDF 967 KB

To seek approval for the installation of raised tables and a traffic calming build-out in Ivel Road, Shefford.

Decision:

That the proposals to install Raised Tables be implemented as published.

Hitchin Road and Clifton Road, Shefford pdf icon PDF 702 KB

To seek approval for the installation of a zebra crossing and the introduction of waiting restrictions near the junction of Hitchin Road and Clifton Road, Shefford following the receipt of objections.

Decision:

That the Executive Member for Sustainable Communities – Services agreed:

1.     The implementation of proposal A as advertised, with the exception of the mini roundabout kerblines will remain unchanged, and that the zebra crossing be placed on a raised table.

2.     The proposed double yellow lines not be implemented unless required and at that time a review of the narrowing of the road be considered.

3.     To publish a proposal to extend the town centre 20mph speed limit zone eastwards to include the Hitchin Road/Clifton Road junction.

4.     To publish the required statutory notices to place the zebra crossing on a raised table.

Flitton & Greenfield - Consider Objections to Proposed Speed Limits pdf icon PDF 715 KB

To seek approval for the implementation of new speed limits in Flitton and Greenfield following the receipt of objections.

 

Decision:

1.     That the proposals to introduce a 40mph speed limit in Flitton Hill be implemented as published.

2.     That the proposals to introduce a 20mph speed limit in High Street, Flitton Road and Pulloxhill Road, Greenfield be implemented as published.

To seek approval for the implementation of a new speed limit in Langford Road, Henlow following the receipt of an objection.

 

Decision:

That the proposals to introduce a 40mph speed limit in Langford Road, Henlow be implemented as published.

Biggleswade Petition pdf icon PDF 135 KB

The report has been prepared in response to a three part petition from Biggleswade Chamber of Trade requesting 1) More car parking in the town centre area 2) A long stay area (up to four hours) being provided and 3) reversal of traffic flows on Hitchin Street in Biggleswade town centre.

Decision:

That the Executive Member for Sustainable Communities – Services agreed:

 

1.     The lead petitioner be advised that a parking study for Biggleswade Town Centre is nearing completion.  This study will advise on how best to improve car parking availability and capacity in the town centre and will inform the development of a car parking strategy.  The proposals from this study will be subject to consultation with the local community in early 2014.

2.     That consideration of any changes to traffic management on Hitchin Street be deferred until the wider impact on adjacent streets and junctions as well as proposals for the Market Square including re-use or redevelopment of Century House can be fully understood and taken into account.
