Appointment of Chairman

To appoint a Chairman for the meeting.

Minutes:

RESOLVED

 

that Councillor J G Jamieson be appointed Chairman of the Sub-Committee for this meeting only.

 

 

2.

Membership of Sub-Committee

Minutes:

 

Members were aware that, following Councillor Hollick’s resignation at the end of the last meeting of the Sub-Committee (minute ASC/13/52 refers), Councillor Hegley had been appointed as his replacement.  The Chairman advised the meeting that Councillor Jones had since indicated that he too would be unable to attend all of the remaining meetings required under the recruitment process and had therefore resigned.  Councillor Spurr had been appointed as his replacement.

 

NOTED

 

1          that Councillor Hegley has replaced Councillor Hollick as a member of the Sub-Committee;

 

2          that Councillor Spurr has replaced Councillor Jones as a member of the Sub-Committee.

To consider a report on the longlisting of candidates for the post of Director of Children’s Services.

RESOLVED

 

that this report be considered in conjunction with agenda item 7 (minute ASC/14/7 refers).

 

 

6.

Exclusion of Press and Public

To consider whether to pass a resolution under section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972 to exclude the Press and Public from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that the consideration of the item is likely to involve the disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part I of Schedule 12A of the Act.

that in accordance with Section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972 the Press and Public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that consideration of the item is likely to involve the disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act.

 

 

7.

Appointment of Director of Children's Services

 

To consider exempt Appendix A on the longlisting of candidates for the post of Director of Children’s Services.

 

Minutes:

 

The Sub-Committee considered a candidate application report by Green Park, the Council’s recruitment partner, for the post of Director of Children’s Services.  The report set out details of all applicants, categorised by Green Park, taking account of the requirements set out in the Council’s Job Description and Person Specification.

 

The Sub-Committee then gave full consideration to the information before it.

 

RESOLVED

 

1          that the applicants for the post of Director of Children’s Services, identified by the Appointments Sub-Committee as being suitable for longlisting, be invited to attend preliminary interviews, testing and assessment by Green Park;

 

2          that a report on the outcome of the recruitment activity outlined in resolution 1 above, together with a proposed shortlist of applicants, be submitted to the meeting of the Sub-Committee scheduled to be held on 29 May 2014.
