Dunstable Road, Moving the 30mph Speed Sign
We the undersigned petition the council to There is a 90 degree bend on the Dunstable Road leaving Caddington going towards Dunstable which is a blackspot for vehicle accidents. I would like to suggest moving the 30mph sign leaving the village to the opposite side of the bend. Making the actual bend a 30mph limit will slow vehicles approaching the bend and will reduce the risk of accidents.
I have been proposing this signage move for some time as I have had many members of the public ask me to do something to make this bend safer for road users. As we regularly see vehicles coming off the bend into the ditch due to their speed. Just before Christmas we had 2 cars in one week crash off the bend into the ditch. I believe this happens as drivers who are not familiar to the road think the bend can be taken at the national speed limit (which it is at the moment)
