Pavement Widening/Cycle Path on Hockliffe Road, Leighton Buzzard
We the undersigned petition the council to Hockliffe Road is a key road in Leighton Buzzard but has a tight profile of houses on both sides very close to the road, particularly for the last stretch into town. The speeding of cars, buses & HGV traffic make it uncomfortable to walk along the pavement, with two pedestrians struggling to pass each other without stepping into the road, particularly during COVID. The issue is exacerbated by cyclists having to use the path to travel, as the road is too busy, fast and tight to cycle down. We would like to see more infrastructure put in place to widen pavements and make it safe for families to walk down. Furthermore, give cyclists the comfort to cycle without feeling under pressure from speeding traffic by giving bikes a dedicated piece of the road.
With significant housing development further up Hockliffe Road, we want to encourage new residents to use foot/cycle into town and not jump in a car.
